Presenter #1: Radiology Presenter #2: Tattoo Artist We will be presenting the art, history, and life as a tattooer, and all its possibilities. Presenter #6: Banking I will be presenting how saving for the future is your benefit. We will discuss saving accounts and planning for your future, how interest works and how starting now benefits you tomorrow. Presenter #7: Juvenile and Probate Magistrate A Magistrate administers law and makes decisions about many different types of cases. You must have at least six years legal experience as an attorney before getting appointed as a Magistrate. As a Magistrate in Juvenile Court, I hear cases involving child support and make custody decisions. If someone under 18 gets in trouble or commits a crime, I conduct their traffic hearings and handle their criminal matters. After trial, I have to make a disposition or sentence, which can include fines, community service, probation, or even detention. Before becoming a Magistrate, I was a defense attorney handling all levels of criminal cases, juvenile and adult, misdemeanor and felony, with the Public Defender's Office in Marietta. Presenter #8: Manager of Humane Society Presenter #9: Training Coordinator of Plumbers and Pipefitters Seldom stuck behind a desk or in one place very long, Pipefitters work in a wide variety of environments constructing piping systems that run the American economy. Using many skillsets including welding, rigging, blueprint reading, and others, Pipefitters obtain certifications that allow them to install high pressure, high purity and other critical piping systems in Power Plants, Refineries, Chemical Plants, Hospitals and more. Through our Registered Apprenticeship program, people interested in careers in the piping trades can learn the crafts and become a Plumber, Pipefitter or HVACR Technician at no cost simply by applying themselves. Presenter #10: Diesel mechanic specializing in school bus, school bus driver, On Board Instructor, Facilities and Transportation Manager Click here to see a video blurb for this career. Presenter #11: Human Resources Specialist In regards to the career I will be presenting, I will be reviewing several different as my position in the health system is to inform students of what career opportunities exist for them in health care so they will essentially see what I do throughout my presentation while learning about other careers in healthcare. Presenter #12: Registered nurse in surgery A RN cares for patients while in surgery as well as running the surgery room for the day. The RN completes the documentation about the surgery, gets the surgeons the tools and supplies needed to complete the surgery, and helps the surgeon place bandages after the surgery. Schooling consists of 2 years of college at a minimum with training in the surgery department for 6 months after college. A RN that works in surgery is called a circulator. A circulator is considered a skilled nurse because they developed skilled training in a specific health care field which is surgery. Presenter #13: Environmental Geology I will present Environmental Geology. My presentation will be about developing a Source Water Protection Plan for the City of Marietta’s public water system. Explore and learn about a variety of careers in agriculture which is Ohio’s #1 Industry. Agriculture careers include being a food scientist, farm manager, golf course manager, landscape designer, feed nutritionist, sale representative, wildlife biologist, plant scientist, animal research technician, aquaculture manager, precision Ag specialist, or veterinarian. Plus many, many more! Presenter #16: Transportation Engineer As a transportation engineer for ODOT, individuals are tasked with planning, designing, constructing, and maintaining a world class transportation system that carries millions of motorists and billions of dollars worth of freight every day. From pavement to landslides to intersections and bridges, an ODOT transportation engineer works daily to make Ohio’s roadways safer, more efficient, and longer lasting. Presenter #17: Physical Therapist Assistant Technology Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) are skilled technical health personnel who work under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT). PTAs assist the PT in the treatment of individuals with a variety of medical problems or health related conditions that result in a loss of mobility or ability to perform functional activities in their daily lives. PTAs can find employment within local and surrounding hospitals, rehabilitation centers, nursing facilities, home health companies, outpatient and sports clinics, and schools. According to the 2018 US Department of Labor report, PTAs ranked #8 out of 20 occupations predicted to be the fasting growing professions between 2016 and 2026. Nationally, PTAs were listed as having an average annual income of $57,430. Presenter #18: Extension careers Do you like doing something different each day? Do you like working with kids and animals? Then a career in Extension may be for you. The Ohio State University Extension Office employees Educators in 4 unique areas. You could be a 4-H Educator and work with youth in the county to develop leaders and inspire them to do new things. The 4-H Educator teaches youth about livestock, attends summer camps, provides after school programming, is involved with county fairs and 4-H project judging and attends professional conferences across the nation. You could be a Family and Consumer Sciences educator working with restaurant owners to train them on serve safe, building strong families through classes, providing SNAP Ed and cooking classes, as well as healthy living classes. You could be an Ag and Natural Resources Educator who works with farmers and master gardeners to bring us local farmers markets and a diverse farming community. Lastly you could be a Community Development Specialist working with the county and township on multiple grant project and fair housing. Presenter #20: Training and Development Leader Production – operating equipment to create products that Magnum sells, maintain a safe and clean work environment, produce quality products, and continually improve Engineering – this could be a number of things; working on projects to increase efficiency/throughput, sales engineering costing the products, creating new products, testing raw materials for use in products, project justification; including savings benefit and return on investment Accounting – Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, perform weekly pay roll, issue customer invoices Sales/Customer Service – build relationships with customers, receive and entering orders, quoting, managing customer Maintenance – repairs equipment, determines root cause of maintenance issues, complies with safety requirements, participates in Kaizen or TPM events, cleans tools and work area on a regular basis Learning & Development Leader – responsible for learning and development for the entire organization. Developing and facilitating Magnum U classes, develop career paths for employees, manage interview process/recruiting efforts. Presenter #21: Court Magistrate Presenter #22: Fire Fighter Presenter #23: Entrepreneurship The Kona Ice presentation is a little different than most of the others. This could actually be YOUR first job! You will hear about the traits we look for in great Kona Ice servers and also a little about great customer service. You will also hear about opportunities to move up through the ranks and possible own your own business one day. Presenter #24: Writer Presenter #25: Nursing, tips on interviewing I will be talking about HR and nursing in long term care and other jobs that are available in a nursing home, and add in some stuff about interviewing and presentation on a job interview. Presenter #26: Wildlife Officer (Game Warden) Wildlife officers are commissioned state law enforcement officers who enforce the laws relative to wildlife resources, which include enforcing hunting, fishing and trapping laws of the state. Officers are empowered to investigate violations, make arrests, and testify in court on behalf of the Division of Wildlife. They also conduct educational programs, provide technical advice on wildlife to landowners, and keep local agencies and conservation organizations updated on wildlife projects and regulations. They also serve a very important role as a point of contact with law enforcement and other agencies on topics of mutual interest and provide assistance and expertise due to their skills, training, specialized equipment and knowledge of the areas in which they work. Presenter #27: Photographer and Magazine owner Michelle Waters makes a living with her camera by photographing portraits, live music and events, but also by teaching workshops, making art, and helping other artists with their online portfolios. Offering a variety of income opportunities and having genuine care for others helps her in making important connections that have given her amazing opportunities locally, nationally and internationally. Learn about why she feels offering (select) variety is important in today's market, and why caring about others is more important than ever, to helping you in any self-employed career. Presenter #28: Careers in computer science The field of computer science is expanding — and there’s no end in sight. The demand for knowledgeable professionals is also growing. Computer Science skills are utilized in almost every field — whether you’re a historian data mining ancient text or a museum curator analyzing works of art or developing the software to make self-driving cars a reality.
